(<strong>Our next course will be held on Sunday, June 7 and 14, 2026. Space is limited.<\/strong>)<\/p>\n<p><strong>STEP 2.\u00a0We will contact you by email once your application has been reviewed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>STEP 3. If approved, you will be asked to submit:<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>$150 fee for the training course and evaluation <\/strong>( nonrefundable check payable to Bright Spot Therapy Dogs)<\/li>\n<li><strong>A copy of your dog\u2019s rabies certification<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once both of these items are received you will be sent an email with a link to our course registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>STEP 4.<\/strong> <strong>Attend all sessions of the training course.<\/strong> At the completion of the course, you will receive an email from the evaluator with possible dates, times and location of the on-site evaluation. Allow approximately one hour for the evaluation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>STEP 5.<\/strong> <strong>Pass the on-site evaluation.<\/strong> The evaluator will check your dog\u2019s grooming and ask the team to perform the basic obedience skills. Then you will be observed conducting an actual visit demonstrating the skills taught during the course.<\/p>\n<p><strong>STEP 6.<\/strong> <strong>Become a Certified Bright Spot Therapy Dog Team<\/strong> by mailing the <strong>$50 new member fee<\/strong> and <strong>a copy<\/strong> <strong>of the Veterinary Health Certificate<\/strong> (Keep the original in your member file.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>The New Member Fee<\/strong> includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Certificate of Certification<\/li>\n<li>Certificate of Volunteer Liability Insurance<\/li>\n<li>Bright Spot dog vest<\/li>\n<li>ID badge for handler<\/li>\n<li>Bright Spot T-shirt<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <strong>annual re-certification fee is $35,<\/strong> payable no later than <strong>July 1.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For an active member<strong> to certify an additional dog, the fee is $35<\/strong> for the evaluation and $10 for the application fee.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are six steps to become a Certified Bright Spot Therapy Dog Team.
