In the same way not every dog can be a therapy dog, not every person can be a therapy dog volunteer.<\/p>\n<p>Ask yourself, \u201cIs this really for me?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bright Spot is looking for dedicated volunteers willing to participate in a program at least once every-other-week, if possible.\u00a0 The facility or program is counting on you to come at an agreed upon time.\u00a0Volunteers are expected to contact their program director if they are unable to fulfill their commitment on a particular day.<\/p>\n<p>Volunteers must keep their certification active in order to continue participating in a Bright Spot therapy dog program.\u00a0 Certification is renewed annually in June.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Volunteers are responsible for maintaining a file containing:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bright Spot Certificate of Certification<\/li>\n<li>proof of Bright Spot volunteer liability insurance coverage<\/li>\n<li>Bright Spot Veterinary Health form<\/li>\n<li>Rabies Certificate<\/li>\n<li>Bright Spot Location(s) of Volunteer Visit(s) form<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The program you participate in may ask you for this information.\u00a0 Although we maintain complete files on all our volunteers, it is your responsibility to provide this information to the program director, if requested.<\/p>\n<p>Your dog must wear his\/her therapy dog vest and you are required to wear your official Bright Spot identification badge on all visits.<\/p>\n<p>Only the certified Bright Spot Therapy Dog Team is allowed to visit.\u00a0 No non-certified friend or family member may accompany the Team while visiting.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and able to provide their own transportation to and from a facility.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If interested, please <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bright-spot.org\/blog\/certify\/certify-your-dog\/\">click here.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The volunteer is just as important as the therapy dog.
